Being an Environment conscious organization, ABC Paper is committed to managing the environmental issues in a responsible manner to reduce its impact on the environment. ABC Papers Environmental Policy indicates its objectives and means to achieve the targets towards environmental protection . To list, some of the recent efforts made by the company for conservation of environment and upgrading its environmental performance include:

• Annually renewable raw materials such as agro-residue and wild grass are used thereby conserving the forests.
• Successful development and implementation of the process for the biomethanation of alkaline sulphite black liquor first time.
• Implementation enzymatic pre-bleaching of pulp to reduce the consumption of chlorine and generation of AOX.
• Adoption of lignin recovery process for recovery of bio-inhibitory compound viz. lignin from the black liquor to enhance its environmental performance.
• Sponsorship of Research & Development projects to Universities and Institutes
• for the development of eco-friendly processes.
• Meeting the guidelines of Corporate Responsibility for Environment Protection (CREP) issued by Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India within specified time period.

Society
ABC Paper also understands its responsibility towards the society which is reflected through the various efforts made by the company including:

• Employment generation for the local community right from raw material collection to transportation of finished product.
• Quality education for local children through a public school run and managed by the mill management in the local village at subsidized fee.
• Free medical Check-up and awareness camps in the surrounding villages.
• Blood donation camps in the industrys premises for employees and nearby villages
• Free supply of treated effluent for the irrigation in the surrounding villages. The sandy loam soil of the surrounding village has turned into fertile land with the use of treated effluent from the mill.
• Free supply of drinking water in the vicinity of the mill.
• Vocational training to students from various institutes such as ITI, Engineering Colleges etc. in the mill.
• Fellowships to Research Students through sponsored R&D Projects.

ABC Paper recognizes the importance of environment in sustainable development and is therefore committed to Utilize renewable agro-wastes for manufacturing competitive products without disturbing the forest cover thereby maintaining the ecological balance; Conserving natural resources of water & energy by recycling and generation respectively with an aim to reduce the level of consumption to a minimum and discharge to zero; Continuing R&D activities to make the process more eco-friendly; Adopting the best available technology for treatment and recycling of process waste and transforming to a valuable resource; Expanding the forest cover by planting trees in the neighborhood to provide people a soothing & hygienic environment and Cultivating an attitude of responsibility towards natural environment to make environment an aesthetic and moral priority through training and communication.

To give effect to its environment policy, ABC Paper will perform these principles:

COMPLIANCE:	Meet & sustain or exceed the applicable environmental Standards
MONITORING:	Strictly monitor the compliance of the environmental activities such as standards, targets etc.
	Conduct environmental audits to verify compliance.
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:	Continuously improve its environmental performance to implement the environmental management systems such as ISO 14001
	Adopt best practicable methods to reduce process emissions, waste and per unit water & energy consumption
	Participate in environmental training programmes to upgrade its Environmental management
	Pursue Research & Development activities in the area of eco-friendly process development
	Perform assessment and mitigation of environmental effects of new projects
TRAINING:	Impart training to employees to ensure that the environmental policy is understood implemented and maintained
COMMUNICATION:	Communicate environmental policy to employees, communities and Authorities
